This is a classic hospoda, a place where locals go. Super fast service, most excellent food, and fresh beer. Nothing pretentious, a real Czech place. Prices are normal and staff serve you with a smile.

Fantastic place. Very genuine, traditional and unique in its own way. The waiters have great sense of humour. The dishes were awesome: knuckle of pork, ribs, sausage and goat cheese. Book it at least a day in advance. They are full most of the time.

I arrived here on a weekday, having reserved a table several days beforehand. Upon arrival, I say that I have reserved a table, and the number of guests (which was one person), and my time. I was pointed downstairs. I head there, and a server asked me once more. I say my time, number and full name. The server looks unhappy, and says, amongst a floor of empty and reserved tables, that there is no table for me. I say that I have reserved ahead of time. They become a little angry and that there is no table for me. I wait at there as the server left me. Later, he waves me over at a ‘spare table’. I feel a little affronted as I have reserved a seat and was not allowed to sit at a reserved table. I then ordered the beef goulash with bread dumplings and some beer. I had some delicious goulash in Poland and Austria. They both arrived in short minutes, astonishing me with their speed. The beer was light and delicious. The beef goulash, or the plzeňský guláš houskový knedlík , upon the first chew, had a flavour and texture extraordinarily similar to plane meals. It was mild and a little ashen, but tender. The bread dumplings came in two textures: one was white and typically bread-like, and the other was denser, with a millet or cornmeal like sweetness. The costs are fine. It was a meal, albeit not delicious this time, even for a hungry me.
