We were looking for a place with traditional food and found this one after searching for some restaurants on Google Maps. The food was very good. They brought the food fast. The stuff was friendly and they were constantly checking if we meed something else, which we appreciate. The prices were decent, at around 300 czk for one traditional plate.
⚠️Disclaimer: Writing this just to remind MYSELF to avoid this place. Other reviewers seemed to thoroughly enjoy it though, so you may too! 🩷 ‼️IMPORTANT‼️: This establishment FORCES bread on your table and will charge just under 20 kc PER person. We asked the waiter and he said that the restaurant requires them to do this. Additionally, it is our fault for not reading the bottom of the menu where it explains this. I’m just warning you before you sit down and order without scanning the full menu. The bread is not good in my opinion. The food was barely tolerable for the price, but I felt I needed to eat it as it’s one of the more expensive restaurants. As someone who grew up eating Czech food, I was shocked by how mediocre it was. My Czech mom did not enjoy her meal either. I did like that for my knedlíky (Czech dumplings) they went a non traditional route and put bacon in. Wasn’t that good, but they tried! 🩷 If you have never had Czech food before, you’ll probably enjoy this place. Or maybe they had an off day. All the best!
We went there quite late (just after 21 o'clock / 9 p.m.) for a late dinner. The staff was very friendly, immediately found us a table (and the restaurant is/was very well visited at that time). We ordered the Hovězí guláš v domácím chlebu (Goulash in a hollowed out loaf of bread) as well as a beer and some water. The Goulash was absolutely perfect, it had a nice spice to eat, a full aroma in the sauce and the meat was as tender as you could ever wish for. They add some raw onions and bell peppers on top, which add a nice crunch and their flavour fit very well with the rest of the dish. I can absolutely recommend this dish! I had a large glass of Pilsner Urquell with this meal and really enjoyed the combination of the flavours. The slight bitterness of the Pils with the very savoury and rich taste from the Goulash. I can recommend this place if you are looking for a great Czech meal for a fair price with a great staff. For 2 people we paid about 350 - 370 CZK per person for a full meal, with drinks. Absolutely fair pricing. Will definitely go there again.
Nice restaurant with many great Czech dishes. We started with sausages with some bread to share which was very tasty. I had the goulash in bread which I can definitely recommend. It is a bit loud in the restaurant as it was quite busy, but the overall atmosphere is nice and the staff were friendly. The service was quick and we had a good time. It is in a bit of a quieter street which is nice, but still very much in the city centre. We had made a reservation beforehand, which I can recommend. It was a Monday evening, 5:30 PM but it was rather full.
All I can say is "Wow". I wish I was hungrier when we went to Blatnice. Now that I remember I asked to "keep one menu for desserts later" makes me laugh. My "kolence" was so good (but so plentiful) that I had to force myself and finish it. It wasn't just my meal, but our entire family ate one of the most delicious dinners and our best meal (by a mile) for the three days we spent in Prague. My son ate a schnitzel that was so tender that I could "cut" it with side of his fork. My wife ate grilled pork and she was also very happy with her choice. Incredibly friendly and helpful staff that night, I'm so grateful they found a table for us even without a reservation ahead of time. Thank you all for the amazing dinner and for making our Prague vacation complete. I wish you all the success you can hope for as you all truly deserve it, from the host, to the chef and to the owner who put this amazing team together. P.S. As a Bulgarian, I forgive you for the blasphemy of putting a lettuce in our "Shopska salad" LOL
