Červený Jelen is another spot that I keep going back to in Prague. ⚜️ First off, for the grand atmosphere - as a former bank with high ceilings and modern art pieces around, it is a feast for the eyes. ⚜️ Second, and more importantly, for the love of meat. I would strongly recommend choosing from the shareable cold starters, and main meat dishes when you are in a group of 3 or more people. ⚜️ For our visit this time around, we had the Beef Tartare as a starter, followed by a Tomahawk steak to share, paired with a Rioja Crianza from their surprisingly extended wine list. Suffice to say, both dishes were prepared perfectly. ⚜️ Though I typically like to indulge in their small and mighty desserts, this time we didn't have any room for it unfortunately. ⚜️ Overall, strongly recommended for meat lovers visiting Prague.

Had a lovely family dinner here while vacationing in Prague. The atmosphere is inviting and definitely creative. The AC was a lifesaver during the heat wave. The restaurant is a bit too large to feel truly special, despite the beautiful décor. The non-personal service is a reflection of the bustling atmosphere. Great beer and a nice otherwise drink selection. We started with the tasting platter: perfect and beautiful steak tartare, goose pâté with lingonberry preserve, delicious homemade breads, and the sweetest, crunchiest radishes I’ve ever had. The veal schnitzel with mashed potatoes was absolutely luscious. The chicken soup was beautifully presented and interesting, although a bit too heavy on the umami. The lamb shank was tender and flavorful, approachable for a less adventurous palate, while the pea croquette added just enough creativity to keep the dish interesting. The potato dumplings swam in a wonderful morel sauce, but both the dumplings and the morels themselves were a bit of a bore.

Červený jelen boasts a captivating ambiance, situated within a monumental space designed by the renowned architect Josef Gočár, combined with the rich heritage of the Špork Palace. However, rather than a conventional restaurant, it possesses the vibrant energy of a grand, upscale beer hall. Due to the concrete elements and the open layout, the ambient noise level is exceptionally high, making it far from ideal for a quiet conversation. A significant highlight is the exceptional service. The staff operate with remarkable efficiency, moving like clockwork. The cuisine, unfortunately, revealed some inconsistencies. I opted for the wild quail with pistachios and röstis; while the meat was well-prepared, the carrots and asparagus were served entirely raw. As an avid enthusiast of asparagus, I was genuinely anticipating it, but it proved unpalatable raw and was remarkably difficult to cut, which felt out of place in a hot entrée. Additionally, the dish was overwhelmed by an excessively salty sauce, and the draught beer could have been poured with greater precision. On a positive note, the desserts were outstanding and offered in an impressive variety.

MyPragueLunch – 10 from 9 stars – top 5% ⭐ Šumi Star™ – People’s Lunch Reviews – 9+1 possible stars Date of lunch: 18.3.2026 Experience Description: This time, we take a look at an absolute gem of Prague. Formerly, among other things, a bank (as evidenced by the impressive vault in the basement in front of the restrooms), today a massive gastronomy operation – right in the heart of the Old Town. “Red Stag” is a happening on multiple levels. It functions as an event space on both upper and lower floors, a garden restaurant, a beer bar – or simply a high-level restaurant. On this day, I had a Jerusalem artichoke cream soup, which was absolutely excellent. A few homemade chips might have elevated this already strong highlight even further. For the main course, I had a pork cordon bleu. Unfortunately, it was slightly overcooked and a bit under-seasoned. As an apology, I received a complimentary espresso. Otherwise, the ingredients and preparation technique were solid. It was served with a nice side salad – very well seasoned. To drink, I had a ginger lemonade that was not sweetened at all and very fruity: excellent. It was clearly prepared from fresh ginger. An extra slice of fruit for squeezing would have made it even better, but the preparation level was already very good. Great music throughout the space, including the design-focused restrooms. A truly strong overall experience that actively invites a return visit. Every time we visit the place it’s always a great experience. The outlet itself always packed with hundreds of customers and a great vibe. The service is fast and professional. It’s amazing how quick you get food and drinks with so many customers The food was of great taste and quality the sharing starter made of pulled pork, chorizo and slow cooked pork belly with a grain mustard mayo was excellent. Same for the deer fillet and the wagyu and foie gras burger. The only suggestion I would make is to replace the slice of foie gras “ pate”or terrine from a tin to a real pan fried foie gras escalope . The choc cake was also good. Overall a pleasant evening with smooth service and tasty food We will be back
