Came to this cool looking underground pub wanting to try some traditional Czech cuisine and it did not disappoint. I tried the traditional Svíčková which was amazing, the meat was so tender and soft and the bread dumplings was so surprisingly fluffy 😍 and being a cheese lover I just had to try the deep fried Gouda cheese, this came with buttered boiled potatoes and homemade tartare sauce. Both meals were absolutely delicious. I was caught out by the portion sizes for only one person so I had to get some in a takeaway container for later. And I couldn’t not have some of the Pilsner Urquell beer 🍺
We had a nice evening here. I really like the rustic atmosphere of the restaurant and the staff was friendly and welcoming to foreigners. Most importantly the food was really delicious. It was simple, honest home-style cooking, just like I remember from my polish grandma. And that is a compliment of course :) We had the gulash, which was really good and the schnitzel with mashed potatoes. The food arrived so quickly that I was a little skeptical at first, but it was freshly prepared and tasted great! The schnitzel could have used a little more salt before being breaded... but apart from that, it was just honest food made fresh and with care.
A wonderful and authentic restaurant with a charming medieval atmosphere that makes the whole dining experience feel unique and memorable. The food was delicious, full of rich flavors, and beautifully presented in a traditional style. The portions were huge and offered excellent value for money. Everything we tried was fresh, hearty, and very satisfying. If you’re looking for authentic cuisine in Prague with a cozy medieval ambiance and generous portions, I highly recommend this place!
