Restaurant Papilio
Prague
Recenzje
Only Czech restaurant with 2 Michelin stars. In former chateau near Prague, it offers extraordinary culinary experience. Just for people who do not hesitate to spend money for quality. I enjoyed especially my coffee and cigarette to finish my dinner. In the garden, blue sky, rising Moon, warm summer night...beautiful.
To be honest I was reluctant to dine here because of the location. We are in Prague for 3 nights staying in the new town and with traffic, this takes about 45mins to an hour. Yes call me snobbish even if it’s a 2 star Michelin restaurant. Anyway I went for dinner and it was great honestly. One of the better Michelin restaurant I had been in a while. My favourite was the white asparagus, top with almond and served in crayfish broth. My only complain was that some of the dishes were too saucy , I think I could do better without so much of it. Oh and I also would skip the wagyu course because it’s a A2/3 grade , I think with only one piece serve on my plate, I could stomach a fatty piece.
I visited this place yesterday with my girlfriend for my birthday celebration. Based on my experience, the waitress and the chef were amazing. All of the waitstaff were fluent in both languages, and the food presentation was stunning, high-quality, and very tasty. Although it is far from the city center, it is well worth the trip. Each plate was perfectly designed to match the meal; hot dishes were served on hot plates, and desserts were served on chilled plates. This attention to detail kept the food delicious and made for a truly heartwarming experience.
We had a very nice time here. Several of the dishes had the wow factor that I look for in a Michelin restaurant. The wine pairing was good, but the food was the best part. We had the 10 courses, and that is great if you want to try everything, but you get most value from 8 courses. The cheese and ravioli which were the difference were not the standout dishes to me.
Papilio was truly a wonderful experience. Great food in the company of great friends made for an evening we will remember for a long time. Every course was refined down to the smallest detail. It simply has to be experienced — words cannot do it justice. The atmosphere of the whole place is exceptional. The only small suggestion for improvement would be to offer coffee with dessert. My only minor remark concerns the bread service. At the beginning, we were served several kinds of bread, but when it was replenished later, only one was available. We had to ask for more variety, and even then the request was only partially accommodated. Still, this is just a small detail in an otherwise perfect tasting menu.
