This place is in the very city centre, roughly 15 minutes on foot from the Central Railway Station. Tram station is also pretty close. The place seems to position itself as a restaurant, although I would rather call it a fancy pub. Loud and tightly packed. No complaints about the food quality, closer to what you might expect in a mid-tier restaurant. The prices are quite high. I would go as far as saying that it is overpriced. Especially given the size of portions. I do understand that it is a tourist-centered place and that you have to pay for the fancy interior and well-dressed stuff, but then you have to step-up your game. The staff is somewhat annoying, trying to sell you more menu items every time they pass by the table. Most likely a policy of this particular place, but worth pointing out. If you are ok with the above-mentioned things and don't mind paying extra - feel free to check it out.
The place is visually beautiful. Clean, elegant, and well-thought-out. The staff speaks perfect English, is well-dressed, well-groomed, and very polite. I consider the prices reasonable, and considering the location and service, even low. The meals also deserve the highest rating. A fully deserved five stars. Lolal seemed overcrowded, but even though we dropped in without a reservation, the staff found a table (the place is large compared to others).
Like others, I was pleasantly surprised to discover this wonderful restaurant. Now I can't think of a better place to experience traditional Czech cuisine in a modern, charming atmosphere. The svíčková here is a true work of art, and the obligatory trdelnik can be paired with an exquisite apricot brandy aged in champagne barrels. A must!
Tiskárna focuses on traditional Czech cuisine with a bit more polish than a typical pub. It sits comfortably in the old-school cooking and menu items, leaning into classic dishes, executed well and without unnecessary reinvention. I was told to come in for the beef in cream sauce with dumplings (svíčková). The dish has a simplicity to it, a rich, slightly sweet, deep in the local comfort food territory. There was an old lady at the table next to me eating the same, and from what I could tell, she has come in for it more than once, and it is part of her traditions and Czech food traditions too. The beer was cold and and with the right amount of milk you come to expect from Czech beer halls. It helps the meal along and grounds everything. It was really busy and is quite a big place with lots of weaving around to get me to a table. A good mix of locals in Prague is always a strong signal. People who know the food keep coming in and that counts for something. It suggests consistency, reliability, and a kitchen that understands why people come in. The things I like about the less polished beer halls and the character edges have been finessed away and polished here. I know why they have done it, but I think I liked the daggy or less polished authenticity of some of the other places I visited. But I want to judge this place on what it’s trying to be, not just what I like. It is a busy Czech restaurant, serving classic dishes, elevated without trying to be too pretentious. It has cold beer and was packed, so it must be doing something right.
We loved this place so much on our first visit that we came back the very next day and it was just as amazing the second time! The food is genuinely delicious, especially authentic Czech dishes: hearty, flavorful and perfectly prepared. Everything we ordered was spot-on: generous portions, fresh ingredients and that real home-style taste you hope for in Prague. Beer was super fresh, served ice-cold in perfectly chilled glasses, exactly what you want with Czech cuisine. Service was quick, friendly and attentive without being pushy. The interior is cozy and charming. If you’re in Prague and want real Czech food done right, with excellent beer and welcoming vibes - this place is a must! Highly, highly recommended. We’ll definitely be back next time we’re in the city.
