We had a mixed experience overall, but my own meal was memorable enough that I’d still give this place 4 stars. Service was excellent — our waitress was very kind, attentive, and spoke English very well, which made the experience comfortable and enjoyable. For starters, I had the garlic soup. I expected a stronger garlic flavor, but it was actually much milder and more balanced than expected, and very enjoyable. My main dish was the confit duck with onion marmalade, paired with a local Pálava wine. This combination worked beautifully for me. The duck had a subtle sweetness that may not be for everyone, but if you enjoy a touch of fruitiness and sweetness in savory dishes, it’s worth trying. The wine pairing made the dish shine. My husband’s experience was less successful. One dish lacked character and wasn’t especially memorable, and the goulash had a flavorful sauce but the beef itself was disappointingly tough. For a dish like goulash, meat texture matters a lot, and this one didn’t quite work for us. Overall, I’d recommend this restaurant, especially for selected dishes and the warm service — but I’d choose carefully from the menu.
This place deserves 6 stars, not 5. I ordered the Veal Hanger steak and it was absolutely outstanding. The meat was cooked perfectly, tender, juicy and full of flavor. The mushrooms were incredible and paired beautifully with the rich sauce, which tied the whole dish together perfectly. The rosemary potatoes were excellent as well. Before the meal, they surprised me with complimentary bread and a delicious flavored butter, which was a very nice touch and immediately set the tone for the experience. The service was friendly and professional, the atmosphere was relaxed, and despite Prague having many highly rated restaurants, U Kroka absolutely lived up to the hype. Without a doubt one of the best meals I've had in Prague. Highly recommended.
This is truly a place where you can try all kinds of delicious Czech dishes. The Goulash, Svickova, Schnitzel (2 times), and Caesar Salad were all very tasty. The mashed potatoes served with the Schnitzel were especially delicious. The meat in the main courses was perfectly cooked, but each had its own unique sauce. We also ordered 2 beers and 2 cokes. Total 2400 Czech Kron. (100 Euro) Excellent value for money. Definitely recommended!
Great Czech food, one of the best ones I’ve tried. Big portions and it’s delicious! I loved how dishes are presented - well done! Simple atmosphere and fine service. If anything, the prices are a bit high.
Beyond words!!!! Incredibly good food, all the positive comments here are more than correct.: Starters, main courses and deserts were all of exceptional good quality. The price is more than fair. Service is quick, very friendly and attentive. The location itself is rather small but clean and gives a very nice atmosphere. Reservation is highly recommended! Normally we don’t go to the same restaurant twice in a row but we have no choice: we loooove this place.
