This place is great but you might not be sure what it is from some of the reviews. It's kind of a beer garden for meat! When you go in you get a card that has lines for all the things they sell (meat from a butcher counter that can be cooked to order, pre-made meat and sides from a counter, tartare and carpaccio, and of course beer). You order whatever you want and the server marks it on the card, and then you show the card at the end and they tally it up for the bill. The food was all very good. We had the carpaccio, a grilled-to-order dry aged ribeye with chimichurri sauce, and a couple of the cooked meat dishes. The carpaccio was excellent and the steak was very tender. The beef was very clean-tasting and not at all gamey. It's clear they are using good-quality ingredients. The atmosphere is beer-garden like, you sit wherever you can, including standing at a long counter if you want. It is all indoors though. It was a fun place to go for dinner and a nice change of pace over a typical restaurant. Highly recommend, but only if you like meat!
Without a doubt, this was the best meat we had in Prague, and honestly, some of the best we've ever had. The ordering system is a little quirky at first, but once you get it, it's actually really fun. As you walk in, there's one counter dedicated to steaks and burgers, while a second counter further inside serves their slow-cooked meats and other specialties. You grab an ordering card when you enter, and each item you choose is added to it. Some dishes are handed to you immediately, while burgers and steaks are freshly prepared and brought straight to your table. There's also a lively bar in the middle, which adds to the whole experience. Now for the food... wow. The pickled Camembert was completely unexpected and absolutely incredible. It was one of our favorite bites of the entire meal and something I'd order again in a heartbeat. For the mains, we had the lamb shank and the beef brisket, and both were phenomenal. They were unbelievably tender, juicy, and packed with flavor without being dry in the slightest. Every bite just melted apart. If you're a meat lover, this place is non-negotiable. Amazing quality, a unique concept, and food that's genuinely unforgettable. I would come back every single time I'm in Prague.
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ (10/10) Unique experience that is definitely a must-visit while in Prague! When you walk in, you are handed a blank ticket cards. There are no traditional waiters here—you walk to the counter, and the staff fill in your cards after they weight what you choose. Later you pay for everything at the cashier on your way out. The food counter and the drink station are located in separate areas. Their menu is well selected and you can choose multiple options as they weight your plate per 100gr. Your eyes will definitely be bigger than your stomach here. The display looks so good it’ll make your mouth water instantly, but go easy on the ordering—the food is rich and heavy! As for the food, the cooked meat is definitely well-seasoned with herbs and spices, but it is so nicely balanced. Everything we tried was incredibly delicious! We tried the potato pancake as a side dish and it was lovely. It is definitely an experience worth having at least once if you are visiting Prague. Highly recommend! ✨🥩🍺
We tried both lunch and dinner at Kantyna and loved both times First timers - when you enter you will be handed a rectangle bill paper, we were a party of two so we got handed two (we only used one) - when you enter through the door on your left you will see a butcher, when you enter the main hall there will be a counter on the left and another opposite - to order ready made meals (including roast) order the left hand side of the main hall, the counter opposite are drinks only. If you’d like to order steak, sausages or pork you order at the counter at the entrance - roast and butcher counter are priced by the WEIGHT - once you ordered you’ll either get your meal/drinks handed to you OR the will hand you a bone marrow which you will take with you and they will bring that particular dish to your table. - all three areas, you will hand your bill paper to them for them to mark your order on there, they will hand it back to you to keep - seating wise, you don’t get allocated a seat you either find your own spot or you stand at the main hall and eat at the big table - once you finish eating you hand your bill to the cashier and PAY! Our favourite was the beef capriccio, pork loin steak from the butcher was amazing, roast beef and cracking pork. The bone marrow I would recommend if you have a group of 4 - very oily and decadent The burger patty was not your traditional burger, the beef is pretty undercook and just seared on the outside (we still loved it) The interior is amazing, it was just really hot inside! The servers are really lovely, I’d just say if you ummm and ahh at the counter you might be greeted with a little attitude.
IF YOU WANT MEAT, THIS IS IT IN PRAGUE. Very busy fast moving Czech pub like atmosphere/ restaurant serving pleasantly delicious MEAT (pork or beef). You get a “menu card” where your servings are recorded, & given to the checkout at the end of your meal. Everything (including veges & sauces) are paid by weight. The is a raw meat counter where you choose how thick you wish before they cook it for you. There is a cooked meat counter (most popular) where pork (done several ways) and beef (done several ways) are served. You choose how much or little meat you wish. Several grilled vegetables or potatoes. Several different sauces (I loved the one in the window). Also order beef bone marrow which was amazing (but perhaps could do with a little less salt. Bar counter for drinks/beer/wine. Suggest one person get into a queue for food, and another person gets drinks and find a table.
